Pushing Away Who I Was To Fit In | Yoshi Sudarso
Before becoming the Blue Power Ranger, Yoshi Sudarso struggled with his identity after moving to America from Indonesia. Pushing away the food, language, and culture he was raised in, Yoshi realized it was leading him away from happiness, and something needed to change.

Cafe Portraits
Capturing Yoshi with natural light outside the cafe. We also shot some reflection window 1. outside and 2. inside the cafe. I tried to utilize the light holes by the metal gate.
Window Portraits
We used the window light to get that nice glow on Yoshi’s face.
1st Studio Portraits
We utilize 2 lights with this portrait that gave Yoshi a nice hint of glimmer on the neck and hair light. Using the AD300 Pro gave us a subtle touch of light on his face.
2nd studio portraits
I wanted to capture Yoshi’s expressions and wanted to get more intimate with the portraits. So I place the light closer to his face using a smaller dish. Still using the AD300 Pro and covered it half way with the gel.
3rd Studio Portrait
We aimed to do more a NOIR feel and had the light right above her head pointing down towards the camera. This light gave her a mysterious look and the turtle neck sweater gave her that complete NOIR vibe.
4th Studio Portraits
Same set up as the 1st Portrait but with his shirt off. With this I was able to highlight the glow on his skin and showcase his physic.
