1st Restaurant Portraits
This was lit with 100% natural lighting. We sat at the mezzanine at the restaurant (Brews Brothers) at North Hollywood, CA. Mezzanine had big windows adjacent to where Tom was sitting from. I used the Canon R5 and was able to capture this drinking portraits.
2nd Restaurant Portraits
After we shot upstairs we head downstairs to get a few portraits. The first one was on the south wall leaning against the pillar. I used the Godox AD300 Pro with a small soft box and utilized the LC500R hinting an orange tint. Then I had Tom sat on the booth mixing window light with AD300 Pro and LC500R top give a nice subtle glow.
1st Studio Portraits
I started out with a simple 1 light set up. Set up the AD600 Pro with a AD-S65W attached. This created a nice glow on his face along with lighting the background behind him.
2nd studio portraits
With this portrait I just added another AD600 Pro with a smaller soft box. This gave Tom a nice highlight on his hair and suit.
3rd Studio Portrait
We channeled our Blade Runner feel for this portrait. I placed the light right above Tom but did something different. I purposefully crack my polarizer (Platinum Polarizer from Best Buy) to get a natural light flare. This gave use a nice glow that I was able to control by turning the polarizer left to right.
4th Studio Portraits
Once we took Tom’s shirtless photo we wanted to go dark. Channeling our Fight Club shots, we focused on Tom’s physique. Lighting this dark showcased his muscles and all the curves. Giving him a nice glow in the front and a subtle rim light.
5th Studio Portraits
The lighting on this one was the same the only difference was adding a smoke machine. Giving Tom a nice ending to the shoot.
